A few photos of the various dome printed parts

The upper pie pieces were printed upright without supports and turned out nice

Some of the dome panels.  Support were needed for any of the panels with holes in them.

Really nice! Are you printing in ABS? PLA? PETG? The prints are really clean!

Thanks. It's Sunlu PLA+ from Amazon.  The prints are coming out really nice so far.  But there's been a lot of trial and error.

Morbeus,
I see your a new member also.
I just joined a couple of days ago.
I also started printing the dome.
Have all main dome pieces and pies printed.
Will start on the dome panels this weekend.
I am using esun pla+ and has work well.
Since you are ahead of me on your print, I will use your build log as reference.
Your prints look great.

Got a general question for all - has anybody found a filament that closely matches R2D2 blue color?

Most of us are painting our droid to get a metal looking finish, so the colour of the filament really isn't an issue.
Once you sand, putty and prime, the base colour isn't that noticeable.
It's also the reason the builds take so long :-)
Printing is the easy part, prep and paint is the time consuming part.
