Painting with Gold
#1
Tried some DULUX bright gold the other day and was very impressed with the results.

Still a long way to go but this is my current project.
Painted the face black before two coats of gold.

Print file was purchased, split using meshmixer and printed on two Wanhao i3 plus printers. The head was cut into 8 pieces the other were a lot more.

Still have a lot of work ahead (no punt intended lol) but will look great when finished.

UPDATE : COMPLETED

This is the helmet for the 1:1 suit, did a better job on this one. Still a few bits to fix/paint as I just removed the tape so some cleanup is required and a sugar soap clean of the red paint to remove any masking tape residue

Wow, the finish on that is really impressive. I've used similar metallic paints from Rustoleum for past 3d print projects (an Indiana Jones fertility idol and a lightsaber hilt), and I found the curing time to be quite lengthy (days or even weeks to fully harden). Is there a similar curing period for the Dulux paint?

Its not that long 2-3 days max,but you can not touch it or spray with clear as it will tarnish or discolour.
After talking to dulux as it has real gold fibres in it will bend them and cause issues. The finish is great you just have to treat it with care.
