Droid Transport
#1
I'm taking my R2 to Dover Comicon on Saturday.  Anyone have any tips or recommendations for getting him from my vehicle to indoors?  I was thinking a cart, but most of them are too narrow.  Has anyone built a custom droid dolly?

I've been looking into this also - last time I had to transport him, I had to take him half apart.

When I get home, I'll post some pics of things I have found (but not made).

Here's what I cobbled together using a $65 cart from Lowes, 3/4inch plywood and some half round moulding. Having a pin-nailer made it easy to assemble.  I the just screwed the assembly to the cart. It worked well enough. I need to make it so the handle retracts to make it easier to fit in the car though.

C2 has his own wheeled transport now (plywood and a collapsible cart from Amazon):

When transporting in our Escape, he just barely fits so long as I remove the lazy susan and dome itself:

My friend with aluminum R2 went and swapped his old SUV for a minivan full fold down 2nd and 3rd rows, so when we go to events we just roll the droids into the back of the van, secure them down, and go.

We have an explorer and R2 won't fit like that - roof line is like 3/4" too low. What ever I come up with will have to lay flat.

I like the cargo strap.  I'll have to add that to R2's chariot.

He technically normally has 2 straps, but I tangled up one and just went with the one strap the day of this pic.
