3D printing time!
#1
Been printing for about two weeks now. My Prusa is going full steam... printing virtually 24/7. Luckily, not too many mess ups so far *knock on wood*.

I printed a few panels orange as a nod to BB-8.

More printing once I got the lazy susan in from Granite Earth... Mostly pics of me trying to figure out how the damn rings are supposed to orientated.

Basically where I'm at right now... I started with the "3rd" ring, again, to figure out how to make the lazy susan and dome work together.

I'm currently working on the 1st ring... more than half way through, but I don't have any pictures yet.

I've been taking some timelapses as well, just gotta figure out a good place to put those up.

Thanks.

I've fixed the image hosting problem and moved the images from photobucket to flickr. Is that what everyone is using to host their pictures?

You can upload them here. You are just limited to 10 per post.

There is a help page for inserting images here:

Thanks for the photo help, Larry. I might do that once I get a script in photoshop to resize my images properly.

I've been printing the body pretty steadily. All 3 main rings are printed out... I'm just waiting on my 3mm rods to come in so I can finalize assembly. Until then, I figured I'd start getting serious about the dome and preparing it for paint.

It mainly goes: bondo, sand, bondo, sand, primer filler, repeat...

Some of the pie/panel prints were before I got the printer fine tuned in...

I'm trying to decide if I want to spray or get a friend that does auto paint to take care of the dome (he's painted some stormtrooper armor for me and the paint is pretty solid). I probably could get a smoother/better look with the auto paint specialist. Has anyone tried this?

I just got around to unwrapping my Granite Earth lazy susan, it seems that the printed gear ring is a few mm too wide. Did you have to scale the gear ring down?

Michael has a 'thin' version in his public share that should fix this.
